Library Trustee Candidates Sought for 2012

The Board of Trustees of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library have announced they are seeking candidates for three library trustee positions that expire on December 31, 2011.  Two of the trustee openings represent Halfmoon and one represents Clifton Park. In order to qualify, candidates are required to be eligible voters residing in their respective towns within the boundaries of the Library Tax District. Employees of the Library, contractors and vendors to the Library are ineligible. Residents will vote for the trustees as part of the annual Library Budget vote scheduled for September 15.

Interested individuals can obtain a nominating petition at the Ask-A-Librarian Desk beginning July 1, 2011.  Candidates must collect the required number of signatures as indicated on the petition.  All petition signatures must be residents, registered voters and reside within the corresponding town within the boundaries of the Library District. Completed nominating petitions and accompanying questionnaires must be returned to the Library by 5pm, Tuesday August 16.

Currently the Library board consists of 11 trustees; 7 representing Clifton Park and 4 representing Halfmoon.  Trustees serve a 5 year term, attend monthly board meetings, serve on assigned committees and contribute their expertise to benefit the Library and the served community.
