New Library Expansion->The Proposal

Decision Process

One of the largest challenges developing a new Library proposal was the selection of a new location. While most people agreed with the need to expand, opinions varied on where to build it. Renewed efforts to find a suitable location started back in November of 2003 when the Library began a fresh effort to find a suitable site. After advertising for offers of land and securing the services of a commercial real estate broker, some 38 land parcels surfaced for consideration. An initial review and evaluation reduced that number to ten (10) possible sites that fit a set of defined criteria and those ten were subsequently whittled down to five (5) finalists.
