The Proposal

A Community Information and Resource Center

The current Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, on Clifton Country Road, serves these basic needs in our community, but as a total information and resource center it is so much more. It is a haven where parents can take their pre-schoolers to learn the joys of reading, or learn techniques for nurturing their children's reading skills. It is a place of learning where seniors can acquire basic computer skills. It is a refuge where someone can develop a resume or investigate a career change, where business people can do research accessing area databases, and where any citizen can come to enjoy quiet time and the latest best seller.

As of June 2004 the Library impacts the quality of life of 35,865 card-carrying patrons, representing 73% of district residents. These citizens have been active users of the Library at least once within a three-year period. In fact, patron growth has exceeded the combined growth of the two towns in the last twenty years, growing over 550% since the Library opened its doors at the current location in 1980.
