glimpsing

as the floor spins below me
my friends crowd around
noise and light disappear
as my head hits the ground

not caused by a drug
but a high of some kind
not synthetic or natural,
it remains undefined.

this mystical feeling
though dangerous it seems
addicting and refreshing
brings on pleasant dreams

no way to describe it
unless you've done it, too
unattached, free to fly,
with a new point of view.

a quick glimpse at my life
and dizzy, i awake
my fingers are tingling,
and my body has shakes

how long i was out for
there's no guarantee... .
but there's no doubt it's an escape
to where I want to be.
