Crisp Snowflakes
By MaryJane
As crisp snowflakes fall
From the deep gray sky
Many people watch,
And they begin to sigh.
For they know winter's coming.
Short days and long nights
With Bitter winds
And snow-day delights.
Unlike the rest, I jump with joy,
A twinkle in my eyes
I know the snow is coming
To dust the passer-bys.
Hot cocoa and warm mittens
Possibilities fill my head.
When will the bright red cardinals come?
Or who will have the fastest sled?
As the days roll on and weeks pass by
Many holidays come near.
Christmas Eve and New Years Day
Make memories do dear.
To spend the day out on the slopes
In 3 foot deep powder snow,
And afterwards to sip my tea,
And rest by the pretty fire's glow.
Wool sweaters and fleece blankets
I love the cozy atmosphere,
As I sit beside the fire, I wouldn't
Want to be anywhere but here.
Oh how I pine for the
Frosty days of December.
The snow, the chill, the wind...
But alas, it's merely September.
